Frequently asked questions

GENERALI Expat Travel insurance provides comprehensive protection for those planning to live outside Spain for an extended period.

It is designed to give expats complete peace of mind, knowing they are covered for emergencies, unexpected events and relevant medical situations while abroad.

GENERALI Expat Travel insurance covers emergencies, unexpected events and assistance while travelling or staying outside Spain. It includes repatriation, travel disruption, baggage cover and personal liability, among other benefits. It is designed for both short trips and longer stays abroad.

Health insurance, on the other hand, is intended for ongoing medical care. It typically covers treatments, specialist consultations and routine check-ups. It does not always include repatriation or travel-related services, and cover outside Spain may be limited or subject to reimbursement limits.

With our Traveller policy, you can include this as an optional cover.
GENERALI Expat Travel insurance includes cover for a range of common travel disruptions, including:
  • Missed flight connections
  • Travel delays and overbooking
  • Alternative accommodation if your hotel is overbooked or cancelled
  • Missed departure due to an accident while travelling to your point of departure
  • Alternative transport arrangements following missed connections
  • Trip cancellation costs due to circumstances beyond your control
With our travel insurance, you’re protected against the most common issues that can affect your plans.

Choosing the right cover depends on how often you travel and how long you stay abroad.

GENERALI offers a range of travel insurance options to suit different travel needs:

  • Traveller: Designed for temporary trips of up to 270 days.
  • Multi-Trip: Available for individuals, couples or families, allowing multiple trips throughout the year, each of up to 90 days.
  • Annual Premium: The recommended option for extended stays outside Spain of up to 365 days.
The cost of travel insurance depends on several factors, including the length of your trip or stay, the type of policy you choose (Traveller, Multi-Trip or Annual Premium), your age, the level of cancellation cover you choose and your destination.

Yes. With the Multi-Trip policy, a Family option is available, allowing you to cover all members of your household. With our Annual Premium policy, your family is also covered in the event of early return.

However, for longer stays abroad, each family member must be included individually in the policy to ensure full cover.
